Unique finds for a touch of culture and affluence at home

From timeless furniture pieces to remarkable art displays, the accents and small details that go into a home can add a touch of sophistication and refinement. But to achieve that, one does not need to have the rarest or most valuable heirloom. You just simply need to find the right items that will not only beautify your home, but can also spark emotions and reflect your distinctive personality.

An excellent place to start is at Palacio de Memoria’s auction house, Casa de Memoria, which is all set to welcome bidders for its first auction of the year, Primero, on March 20, 2021, Saturday, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. This exciting auction event will feature a specially curated selection of Asian and European antiquities and objets d’artthat will certainly add a touch of worldly affluence to the homes of culture enthusiasts and art aficionados.

After all, a room’s design can be elevated with at least one statement piece. For furniture, it is best to invest in quality pieces that offer comfort and style such as the 19th century Italian paper desk in ebonized wood with ivory and bone inlay (Lot 10) and the Napoleon III style mahogany sideboard with green marble top (Lot 35), which have starting bids of Php 360,000 and Php 120,000, respectively.

Aside from furniture, Primero offers various classic masterpieces that can breathe life to any home. The auction has paintings like “Confesiones del Eco” by Manuel Viola (Lot 83) and “Planting Rice” by Victor Loyola (Lot 156); lithographs like “Woman with Vase of Flowers” by Romeo Tabuena (Lot 65) and “Joueur de flute et chevre” by Pablo Picasso (Lot 99); and tapestries like the 17th to 18th century tapestry depicting a nobleman approaching a mother and child (Lot 62). These artworks have starting bids ranging from P14,000 to P180,000.

Casa de Memoria also takes pride in its unrivaled collection of religious iconographies. Several ecclesiastical pieces will be up for bidding at the auction, including a Mexican oil on copper painting depicting the Holy Trinity (Lot 124), a Santo Niño wooden relief (Lot 147), a Spanish oil on board depicting the Assumption of the Virgin (Lot 179), and an Indo-Portuguese Cristo Moribundo carved in ivory (Lot 200). These lots have starting bids that range from Php 30,000, to Php 280,000.

Aside from these, more rare antiques, decorative art pieces, and collectibles, such as porcelain vases and tableware, bronze sculptures, crystal centerpieces, historical period pieces, lamps and chandeliers, carpets, and mirrors will go under the hammer at the Primero auction.
