Maya continues digi-palengke thrust with launch of QR-Ph in Lapu-Lapu City

Maya, the country’s #1 digital bank and money app, continues to lead the rollout of the national QR standard for retail payments in Cebu with the launch of Paleng-QR Ph in Lapu-Lapu City. In a ceremony held at the Lapu-Lapu Public Market on February 17, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Interior and Local Government, and local officials formally launched the initiative to enable QR-based transactions among vendors within public markets, local transportation, and other MSMEs.

Modernizing Lapu-Lapu City’s public markets with Maya. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, flanked by local executives Lapu-Lapu City District Representative Cynthia Chan and Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, inspects the rollout of Paleng-QR at the Lapu-Lapu City Public Market, now powered by Maya.

Lapu-Lapu City is the latest city to join the roster of local government units transforming their public markets into Paleng-QR Ph following the launches in Baguio City, Davao City, Tagbilaran City, and Naga City.

Maya has been leading the fintech and banking sector in the nationwide adoption of the country’s QR standard for retail payments, being the first to deploy the QR Ph for Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Payment and Peer-to-Merchant (P2M) Payment.

Everything, everywhere, everyone – all with Maya. With the rollout of Maya QR in Lapu-Lapu, the city’s vendors and MSMEs can seamlessly accept payments from customers across a variety of QR Ph-participating e-wallets and banks. Basta QR Ph, pwede sa Maya!

Consumers can enjoy the QR Ph through Maya’s superior omnichannel touchpoints, allowing even non-Maya users to transact with merchants via Static Maya QR displayed at stores, Maya Terminal point-of-sale devices, and online checkout with Pay with Maya. Maya is powering over 800,000 QR Ph-enabled Maya merchant touchpoints, present in 96% of cities and municipalities across the Philippines.

One QR, endless possibilities!
With just the Maya QR, merchants can easily send and receive payments regardless of their e-wallet or bank accounts.

Meanwhile, more than 55 million Maya customers enjoy seamless transactions on Maya’s consumer platforms, designed to work seamlessly with other QR Ph-participating financial institutions.

On top of digitalizing public markets, Maya’s thrust makes it the growth partner of choice of Philippine businesses, including pharmacies, transportation, travel, retail stores, public utilities, food, hospitals, service providers, and schools.
