Honda Foundation, Inc. 1ST Students on Safety in Taguig City

Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI), Taguig City local government and the Department of Education – School Division Office of Taguig City and Pateros (DepEd TAPAT) collaborated for the first ever Students on Safety in Signal Village National High School (SVNHS). The Students on Safety (SOS) is part of Honda’s road safety program that aims to develop road safety mindset, riding and driving proficiency among students, faculty members and school personnel for the protection & welfare of the society. Likewise, the SOS provides practical road safety know–how to the community in an easy – to – understand and enjoyable learning approach.

Present were HFI President and concurrent president of Honda Parts Manufacturing Corp. (HPMC) Mr. Seiji Fujimoto, HFI Board of Trustees headed by Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) President Ms. Rie Miyake, Honda Trading Philippines Ecozone, Corp. (HTPE) President Mr. Tomoyuki Mabuchi, Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) Board of Trustees, DepEd TAPAT and SVNHS Officials.

HFI is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Honda companies in the Philippines, comprising of Honda Philippines, Inc. (manufacturer/distributor of motorcycles and power products), Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (automobile products), Honda Parts Manufacturing, Inc. (manufacturer/ exporter) and Honda Trading Philippines Ecozone Corporation (storage/ warehousing).

HFI was established and registered as non-stock, non-profit organization on December 23, 1992; since then, HFI is One with the Community in its advocacies of Protecting the Environment, Supporting the Youth for the Future, Addressing Community Needs and Promoting Traffic Safety. Honda will aspire to become “a company that society wants to exist,” and will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, by serving people worldwide with the joy of expanding the people’s life potential through its social contribution initiatives.

In 2019 Honda team started conducting Safety Riding Promotions in different cities in Metro Manila focusing on motorcycle riders. These were successful events participated by Riders, Government employees, Public & selected Honda Dealer Partners; with various activities such as Road Safety Seminar, Test Ride & Learn to Ride, Product Display, Vehicle Safety Features Presentation, among others. Early this year, through HFI Corporate Social Responsibility Road Safety program, the 1st Road Safety Summit offering a wider activity coverage was held in Pasig City Rain Forest Park on January 27, 2024. This event showcased for the first time, not only Honda Motorcycles but display vehicle of the latest Honda Automobile with its safety and innovative technology, as well as its Power Products model line-up such as portable generator, tools for agriculture needs, and After-sales parts.

This time, HFI’s Road Safety campaign reached the Academe with the 1st Students on Safety event in Signal Village National High School in Taguig City.

The fun-filled learning experience was participated by more than 250 road users comprising of junior and senior high school students, teaching and non-teaching personnel of Signal Village National High School.

The HFI and HPMC President Mr. Seiji Fujimoto emphasized the importance of collaboration with the government, academe and the public in mitigating the rising number of traffic-related road crash. Highlighting that as a mobility company with diverse products and services, Honda wants to move people physically and their hearts through the value that Honda provides. These statements were likewise highlighted in the message of fellow HFI board of trustee, HCPI President Ms. Rie Miyake. HFI is committed to continuously be the driver of road safety for every family.

Dr. Jose F. Abisado Jr., DepEd TAPAT Education Program Supervisor and Dr. Reynaldo A. Nama, Signal Village National High School Assistant School Principal II expressed appreciation and support to HFI’s advocacies especially its program of instilling Road Safety mindset to the students and school personnel, with the utmost goal of protecting the lives of people in the community.

HFI’s advocacy of Road Safety Program for our Family, undertaken through Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC)- 1 Honda Road Safety program (1HRS), is aligned with Honda global safety driving “SAFETY FOR EVERYONE” campaign.  As part of Honda’s global worldwide direction, a comprehensive road safety strategy through close collaboration with the government, academe and private organizations is essential to achieve the company’s goal of reducing the number of road crash fatalities involving Honda’s motorcycles and automobiles, with ultimate goal of zero traffic collision fatalities by 2050.
