The Liveable Cities Labs, presented by the Liveable Cities Philippines and the League of Cities of the Philippines, in partnership with Globe Telecom, will kickstart its 2021 series with a timely discussion on how local government units can prepare their own vaccination program once the anti-COVID-19 vaccines become accessible and available in the country.
Due to the COVID pandemic, the global lockdown has greatly affected our cities for almost a year now. The coming of anti-COVID vaccines, while it provides so much hope, also poses a big challenge for local government units to face. At the start, the largest mass immunization in the country’s history will be a daunting logistical undertaking and a public education challenge for all of us considering the many misinformation and other negative perceptions about the vaccines themselves.
In order to prepare cities, the discussion for the first Lab on Getting Cities Ready for Vaccines will revolve around how cities plan to build public acceptance of the vaccine, how to allocate it equitably across various populations, who will be prioritized, administer it efficiently together with different partners, and other concerns will be put into light with local leaders who are in the thick of the fight in addressing their people’s concerns, needs and fears.
The discussion on how to implement a viable anti-COVID vaccination program will jumpstart the second season of the LCC which provides cities with knowledge and insights for designing better solutions for their communities.
Joining us in our panel are Mayor Abby Binay of Makati City, Mayor Richard Gomez of Ormoc City, Mayor Joy Belmonte of Quezon City, and Mayor EvelioLeonardia of Bacolod City. Margaret Bengzon, Senior Healthcare Consultant of AC Health and Elaine Ocampo, Head of Solution Engineering Division of Geodata Systems Technologies, Inc. will also share their valuable inputs in the discussion.
The Lab on Getting Cities Ready for Vaccines will be on 24 February 2021 (Wednesday), 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sign up now at http://bit.ly/LCCVACCINES
