#GlobeOfGood: Globe, partners extend connectivity tools, in-kind assistance to 500 Tondo Medical Center frontliners

Globe is providing connectivity tools and in-kind assistance to Tondo Medical Center, which is also celebrating its 50th founding anniversary this month. This is also to show gratitude to the unwavering service given by health sector workers since the pandemic struck last year.

The health sector has been at the forefront in battling COVID-19 since day one. While the nation gradually adapts to the changing landscape of day-to-day reality, Globe wanted to remind the frontliners that their continued service is not forgotten.

As part of its #BrigadangAyala thanksgiving initiative, Globe has turned over 50 MyFi devices to TMC for distribution to medical staff so they may tend to more patients and keep in touch with family and loved ones.

At the same time, the telco has given four television sets and Home Prepaid WiFis for use in the hospital’s emergency room, out-patient department, and employee ward. There was also a P500,000 cash donation from Ayala Corporation while Globe continues to conduct fundraising efforts through GCash.

Additionally, PureGo, an online grocery shopping platform and one of Metro Manila’s rising grocery delivery services, provided 500 PureGo discount vouchers worth P200 to Tondo Medical Center employees, which they can use to purchase for their daily grocery needs.

“We at PureGo look up to our frontliners in the middle of this pandemic. As we continue to serve more Filipinos with a convenient and affordable grocery shopping experience, it has been our priority to show our gratitude to our modern day heroes the best way we can,” said Glenn Estrella, PureGo Entrepreneur-in-Residence.

GCash, the number one finance app in the Philippines, likewise provided GInsure packages with Covid and Dengue coverage for 3 months for 500 frontliners of TMC.

“While more and more Filipinos get vaccinated, there is still a long way to go.  We at GCash are one with the nation in applauding the tireless efforts of our frontliners.  It is our pleasure to collaborate with Brigadang Ayala and Globe to promote this initiative for the benefit of our unsung heroes.  With GCash, you can extend your valuable assistance, conveniently, safely and securely with just a few taps on your phones,” said Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the frontliners and non-medical staff of TMC for rendering service that helped us get through this pandemic. Globe would like to make sure that each medical staff is connected to further help them serve the community. We also want them to stay connected to their family and loved ones as they continue to care for the larger portion of society,” said YolyCrisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.

Tondo Medical Center Chief II, Dr. Maria Isabelita M. Estrella, shared that beyond work, the TMC community uses connectivity and technology to take care of each other and ensure the well-being of the frontliners. “Our frontliners face significant risk in the line of duty when they are subjected to isolation. We make sure they are also taken care of.”

During the height of the pandemic’s second wave last March, TMC hit the news for putting up emergency tents to ensure that no patient is left behind despite reaching the hospital’s full capacity.

Globe customers may easily help by donating via GCash’s Pay Bills option.  Just tap Others and select #FightCOVID19.

Aside from the thanksgiving assistance launched in TMC, Globe also initiated the same activity for two other designated COVID-19 hospitals in Metro Manila – UP Philippine General Hospital and National Children’s Hospital.
