STADA Philippines Launches Hyastad Portfolio, Setting a New ‘Hy-Standard’ for Preservative-Free Eye Care

STADA Philippines has officially launched its new Hyastad portfolio, introducing a range of preservative-free ophthalmic solutions designed for the comprehensive management of dry eye disease and other ocular surface conditions.

The new portfolio was recently unveiled to coincide with the 165th birth anniversary of the country’s national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, a German trained pioneering Ophthalmologist himself. The special event at the Makati Shangri-La was attended by the top ophthalmologists and key executives from leading drugstore chains in the Philippines.

Building on its long-standing partnership with the Philippine ophthalmology community, STADA stated that the new portfolio reflects its commitment to advancing evidence-based eye care. The launch marks the next evolution of STADA’s ophthalmic presence in the country, expanding the variety of preservative-free solutions available to healthcare professionals and their patients.

“The Hyastad portfolio represents our commitment to redefining the standard of patient care,” said Paolo Valenzuela, General Manager of STADA Philippines. “For us, truly caring for health means refusing to compromise. It means ensuring that every solution we bring to clinics meets uncompromising, high quality and proven clinical efficacy. This is what we call the ‘Hy-Standard.'”

A Targeted Approach to Ocular Health

The Hyastad portfolio introduces three distinct products designed to address various aspects of ocular surface management:

–            Hyastad 0.2%: Features a higher concentration of Sodium Hyaluronate to provide longer-lasting hydration for patients requiring sustained relief from chronic dry eye symptoms.

–            Hyastad Plus: A solution combining 0.4% Sodium Hyaluronate with virgin castor oil to help restore the tear film, supporting both immediate lubrication and long-term tear film stability.

–            Hyastad Wipes: Ophthalmic wipes intended for daily eyelid hygiene, particularly for patients suffering from blepharitis. Powered by a patented Hy-Ter formulation, these are currently the only ophthalmic wipes registered with the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a medical device.

Together, the portfolio allows eye care professionals to tailor treatments according to individual patient needs, spanning from preventive daily hygiene to advanced tear film restoration and sustained hydration.

A Holistic Approach to Eye Care

According to Raafat Maher, Vice President and Head of Commercial for STADA Emerging Markets, managing eye health today requires looking beyond advanced symptoms.

“Today, managing eye health goes beyond treating advanced symptoms; it requires a holistic approach to comprehensive ocular surface health—from advanced therapies down to critical, daily preventative eye hygiene,” Maher said. “We believe that true patient care cannot exist without uncompromising scientific rigor and continuous collaboration among key players in the healthcare industry.”

Maher added that alongside product innovation, STADA remains committed to supporting continuing medical education for Filipino ophthalmologists by sharing global trends, scientific data, and industry best practices.

Strengthening Industry Partnerships

The portfolio was introduced via a scientific program highlighting the clinical evidence behind preservative-free eye care. The event brought together leading ophthalmologists, officers of medical societies, and key pharmacy partners.

In a video message, Stephane Jacqmin, Executive Vice President for Emerging Markets, emphasized that the new portfolio reflects STADA’s broader global mission to deliver meaningful healthcare solutions through trusted local partnerships.

“‘The Hy-Standard’ is more than just our theme. It represents STADA’s commitment to be a continuous partner of choice in providing patient solutions that matter,” Jacqmin said.

With the rollout of the Hyastad portfolio, STADA Philippines continues to strengthen its ophthalmic footprint, equipping healthcare providers with the evidence-based, preservative-free tools necessary to treat various stages of ocular surface management.
