PT Sports Links Up with Smart Sports for EWC2026 Debut

PT Sports, the dynamic competitive sports and athletics division of PlayTime Entertainment, has officially announced its historic entry into the upcoming Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026. Making waves across the global esports landscape, PT Sports fields the only Philippine-supported Dota 2 roster to secure a direct invite to the prestigious multi-million dollar tournament in Paris.

The Philippine organization is backing an elite, all-Peruvian powerhouse squad in a move that highlights its boundary-less approach to competition. There is no geographic limit to PlayTime’s support and investment in esports; talent, drive, and championship caliber know no borders.

The team’s journey to the world stage also received a boost through its partnership with Smart Communications, underscoring the telco’s long-standing commitment to advancing esports development.

“We have always believed in the power of esports to connect talent, communities, and nations. Our support for PT Sports’ Esports World Cup journey reflects our long-standing commitment to developing the esports ecosystem—not just in the Philippines, but on the global stage, showcasing what’s possible when passion meets world-class support,” said Jude H. Turcuato, FVP and Head of Smart Sports.

“When we launched PT Sports in January 2026, our goal was to build champions across sports and esports verticals. Securing a direct invite to the Esports World Cup just months after our inception is proof of concept. By pairing this phenomenal roster with the incredible backing of Smart Sports, we are showing the world that Philippine organizations can innovate, invest globally, and belong among the absolute elite,” shared PT Sports Team Manager Rocelle Cadavos.

Formed in early 2026, the elite Peruvian quintet competing under the PT Sports banner consists of some of South America’s most explosive and seasoned talent:

  • Máximo “Wits” Orozco Alza (Carry)
  • Oswaldo Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera Martínez (Mid)
  • Frank Alberto “Frank” Arias Ayala (Offlane)
  • Elvis “Scofield” De la Cruz Peña (Support)
  • Yelsthin Brayan “elmisho” Verde Hurtado (Support)
  • Juan David “Vintage” Angulo Nicho (Sports Director)

The squad locked in their EWC ticket following a legendary lower-bracket run at DreamLeague Season 29, knocking out international giants like Natus Vincere (NaVi) and Boom Boys to achieve a Top 6 finish.

The grind does not stop. PT Sports is currently locked into The International (TI) Qualifiers, fighting to secure their spot at Dota 2’s crown-jewel annual championship. Immediately following the qualifiers, the team will fly to Paris, France, to represent the PT Sports and Smart Sports alliance at the Esports World Cup, running from July 6 to July 18, 2026.

Proving that their global campaign is a continuous, long-term assault on the international circuit, the team will then pivot straight to Astana, Kazakhstan, for the Games of The Future 2026. Taking place from July 29 to August 9, 2026, this major tournament features a massive $1,000,000 Dota 2 prize pool and will see PT Sports test their limits in one of the world’s premier sports stages.
