Community tournament brings together residents, workers, and partners
Pueblo de Oro Development Corporation (PDO) has officially launched the 1st PDO Summer Basketball League at Pueblo de Oro Townscapes Malvar, with Malvar Mayor Admiral Artemio “Art” Abu attending the opening ceremony as Guest of Honor.
The league is envisioned as an inclusive platform that promotes camaraderie, teamwork, and healthy competition within the growing PDO community.
The tournament features seven competing teams composed of residents from Pueblo de Oro Residences and Pueblo de Oro Townhomes, as well as PDO employees, in-house and partner brokers, maintenance personnel, security agency staff, and contractors.
During the opening program, Mayor Abu underscored the importance of community-based sports activities, highlighting their role in bringing people together at the local level.
The games were formally opened with resident Mr. Robin Lirio leading the Oath of Sportsmanship. The tournament then officially tipped off with a match between the Vanguards and the Daddies Team, with the latter securing a 72–63 victory in the league’s first game. The champion team will receive a cash prize of P10,000, while the runner-up will take home P5,000
The 1st PDO Summer Basketball League will run for 12 weekends, with games scheduled every Saturday and Sunday. Organizers envision the tournament to become an annual event, with plans to hold a volleyball tournament.
